Setting the stage: The rise of Smart Content
Day 1 opened with a bang. Enter SER CEO Dr. John Bates and VP of Products Douglas Cardoso who laid out their bold vision: Smart Content as the new engine of enterprise productivity. They showed how intelligent content automation goes beyond storing information — it turns documents into decision-ready assets. The message was clear: Unlock what your business already knows, cut the busy work and move faster with AI-powered insights.
A wave of incredible customer success stories
Deutsche Bahn showed how they’ve modernized content across departments with Doxis at scale, supporting 60,000 users and managing over 200 TB of data. It’s a long-standing partnership — and one that’s still gaining momentum.
From the scale of DB rail to the speed of services, Germany-based NGO KJSH followed with a compelling story of transformation, showing how intelligent content automation helped them digitize and streamline everything from HR onboarding to facility management. Tasks that once took hours now take minutes, with contracts for new hires created in under three minutes across their 4,000-strong workforce. This means they are able to strengthen the important social services that lie at the heart of their mission to support children, families and communities.
In the engineering and IT service provider space, Alten shared how centralized documentation and secure, auditable content sharing with clients have strengthened operational agility and built trust across projects.
And when it comes to speed and scale, Würth IT delivered a standout case — they hit 80% automation for new document types in just days using Doxis, proving how quickly intelligent content automation can become a competitive edge.
Digitizing healthcare, accelerating HR and taming SAP complexity
From healthcare to HR, Smart Content comes to life through real-world innovation at Zurich Insurance Group. They showed how they’re managing 65TB of sensitive medical content, replacing physical media with a secure digital PACS system that speeds up claims, protects patient data and connects medical stakeholders across the country.
And adesso, an IT service provider specializing in business consulting and software development, revealed how they slashed contract processing time from hours to under 30 minutes with a unified, template-driven approach, fully integrated into their ERP, freeing HR to focus on people, not paperwork, and scaling easily with demand.
Meanwhile, AWS joined the SER team on stage to unpack what cloud-native SAP automation really looks like — modular, scalable and built for enterprise agility. Demonstrating the incredible value of this partnership to our customers, together we showed how intelligent content automation brings structure and speed to even the most demanding SAP environments.
Then came one of the day’s most memorable moments: Klippa CEO Yeelen Knegtering took the stage and shared how the frustration of managing receipts and invoices in his former job became the spark for something much bigger — DocHorizon, an AI-powered platform that now automates millions of document workflows for some of the world’s largest brands. Now part of the SER Group, Klippa brings deep AI expertise to the table, accelerating innovation across the board. His message was equal parts personal and practical: Real innovation starts when you fix a problem that drives you mad.
After a full day of big ideas and bold thinking, the crowd moved from the main stage to the riverbank. Attendees wrapped up day 1 in style at Oosten, one of Frankfurt’s most iconic restaurants, where conversations continued over drinks, dinner and sweeping skyline views. It was the perfect setting to turn new connections into lasting relationships.
Keeping up momentum: Scaling Smart Content across the enterprise
Loosened up and ready to go from the morning run, day 2 kicked off industry giant Siemens, and one of the most ambitious archive transformation stories in this global brand’s history. Migrating over 1.5 billion documents for 300,000 global employees into the Doxis cloud, they’re building a secure, scalable content foundation with zero business disruption.
Scale truly became the theme for rest of the day, with Philip Morris International revealing how they’re replacing fragmented, manual HR document processes with a global, AI-ready DMS powered by Doxis. Integrated with platforms like SAP SuccessFactors and Salesforce, the rollout spans 80+ countries and over 57,000 users, bringing faster document generation, secure e-signatures, and smarter classification to every corner of their HR operations.
In the manufacturing space, Schneider Electric shared their own transformation story, showing how their migration to Doxis led to 30% faster backup times, 10–12% cost savings and smoother performance for employees across the board.
More customer insights rolled in throughout the day. German reinsurance provider Hannover Re showcased how they’ve made ICA a flexible daily toolbox for content management, while LCSI explored how they’re helping universities embrace smart automation to simplify academic and administrative processes.
Meanwhile, AFI Solutions provided a deep dive into the future of SAP content automation, with Fabian Rückels and Susan Döhring showing how they’re helping organizations bring intelligence to P2P and O2C processes. With over 25 years of SAP experience, they shared how solutions like AFI Invoice and AFI Confirmation support 200,000+ users globally, processing more than 90 million documents a year. From ViDA compliance to S/4HANA migrations, their session offered a practical look at what smart automation really delivers.
Gil Loureiro, SER’s Head of Cloud, laid out a compelling roadmap for Doxis.Cloud, highlighting geo-scalability, resilience and user experience.
Speaking on the matter of lost time for HR teams mired by manual processes, Director of Solutions Engineering Max Gerrard explored how to unify document handling in SAP SuccessFactors with Doxis and embedded AI.
SER CTO Dr. Gregor Joeris closed the product side with a powerful look at what’s coming next — from advanced agentic AI flows to intelligent integrations with SAP and beyond. As many in the audience noted, Gregor’s deep dive into AI and automation left no doubt that Smart Content isn't an idea, it’s already here and achieving results. Oh, and he’s apparently a really good juggler!
